A person's a person no matter how small...

I love Dr. Seuss...as if you couldn't tell by Lilly's stuffed animals in my last post. I can remember my mom reading Green Eggs and Ham to me over and over when I was a little girl. I bet I could still quote a few lines. I love the rhymes, the crazy abstract pictures, and the underlining messages in each book.

This past weekend, the Phemister family joined Jordan, Lilly and I for some fun and exciting Dr. Seuss story time at Target. When we first got there, I wasn't sure that this whole story time thing would keep Lilly's attention. To our surprise, we sat her car seat down in front row and she listened like an angel ( for the first 20 minutes). Jordan and I were so proud of her. Harlen and Lilly had so much fun during story time. I know Lilly loved listening to Oh, The Places You Will Go, but it was obvious that she was having way more fun with her BFF.

After seeing how well the girls did that day, I am so looking forward to enjoying more story times in the future!

Lilly's in her car seat being such a good listener.

Babies listening to story time and mommies drinking coffee...it's a crazy life, but it's our life!
She loves taste testing her friends!

What a fun frenzy five months has been...

Dear Lillian,

You are now a whole 5 months old. My dear, you are growing like a weed and learning just as fast. You amaze your daddy and I everyday with your new discoveries! You can roll, sit up (for a few seconds), grab and play with toys you never used to play with. You are still 100% on breast milk, and nurse about 6-8 times a day. You've learned to sooth yourself to sleep for your naps. It's kinda sad having to let you fall asleep in your own bed mommy and daddy's bed (you won't fall asleep anywhere else...bad habit I've started) since I used to rock and hold you till you drifted off. You still sleep in a pack-in-play in our room. Daddy's trying to talk me into kicking you out next month and let you sleep in your own room, but you're MOMMY just isn't ready for you to be so far away. Now, you go to sleep at 9:30, wake up at 6:30 to nurse, and then go back to sleep till 9am. You'll stay awake for an hour and then it's nap time. You usually take two naps a day for an hour or so.

You are so tender and loving. You always reach for things so soft and kind. While you nurse, you like to hold on to my finger, and nowadays you like to run your fingers through my hair. You pull my hair sometimes, so I only let you do it for a little while. When people talk to you, you smile and put your fist in you mouth and duck your head in my arm. You shouldn't cover up that beautiful smile...it makes my heart glow every time I get the chance to see it!

Bath time! Mommy's favorite way to end the night. You love your baths. You could splash your toes in the water all night if I let you. You don't mind me washing your feet or cleaning behind your ears as long as I let you chew on your wet wash rag . You are starting to get interested in toys. You love when I entertain you with your water toys. You're favorite is a green turtle scoop with holes in the bottom. You could watch me fill that thing up with water 100 times just to watch the water drain out of it. The only thing you still hate about bath night is getting lathered up with gallons a little bit of lotion. I guess it just makes you too cold, and by the time we get to this part mommy is usually racing to get as much lotion on you as possible, zip up your night gown and brush your hair before the screaming starts.

Screaming? YES, screaming! One of your many new and entertaining tricks you've recently learned. Mommy and daddy thought this was so funny the first time you did it, but now we can't give you a passy fast enough. You scream when your happy, sad, bored, and mad...mostly when you're bored. You are a busy body just like mommy. You can't sit too long or do something for too long before you lose interest. You're so stubborn too. We try to let you scream it out or learn to deal with your situation, but you never give up or give in. You'll be such a good leader in whatever you do in life.

You've also learned how to blow bubbles and make raspberries. You make the sound of a motor boat alllll the time. We all love when you make such sweet sounds...unlike the screaming. haha You find it interesting that you can put your hands together in front of your face. You've also found your toes. Every time I change your diaper you grab your toes. It's one of my favorite things you are doing now. You love to stand, especially when daddy has you. Oh, speaking of your daddy. You looooove him so much! When he gets home you light up in the biggest smile. No one, and I mean no one, can make you laugh as loud and hard as he can. Everyone tries, but we all fail. He's your number one and we all know it!

In the past 5 months, you've developed your own personality and changed mine. You make me think about others before myself. You show me what unconditional love means every day. Being a mommy is the best gift in the world, and I am so blessed that I'm yours. You are a shining star in everyone's eyes...especially your grandparents who can't go two weeks without seeing you!

I love you so much, Lillian. I promise to show you my love everyday from the moment you wake up till the moment I kiss you goodnight.

Love,
Mommy

Trying to figure out what this green thing is that she likes so much!

I cought her in the act of making motor boat sounds. Love this picture!

Loving My Lillyboo

So, I'm a few days behind, but I wanted to share our first Valentine's Day with our precious daughter. Last February, when Lilly was just the size of a sweet pea (about 6 weeks gestation), we told my parents and Jordan's that we were expecting a baby by giving them a grandparents-to-be card and a pink Valentine's Day bib that said "Baby's First Valentines". This year our little Sweet Pea (Jordan's new nickname for Lilly) actually got to wear the bib...so neat!

The day before Valentines, Jordan and I went on a date A-L-O-N-E! No Lilly, although she was constantly on my mind. A sweet couple from our church were kind enough to watch Lilly while Jordan and I saw a movie and went to lunch. Something we haven't been able to do in a really looooong time. We  saw True Grit (great movie), went to Gloria's for lunch and even took a stroll over to Yogurtville for dessert. YUM! I love my time with my sweet baby, but every once in a while it's nice to take a few hours as a married couple and just enjoy your alone time with your husband.

While Jordan and I were out on the town, Miss Lilly Grace decided she wanted to show off and ROLL OVER for her new friends!!!!!! Jordan and I worked and worked with her the night before to get her to roll over...with no luck. I think when Dave and Laura told us what she had  done, we must have had the look of the proudest parents on earth! I'm pretty sure my cheeks were going numb because I was smiling so much!  Of course, when we tried to get her to roll over again she wasn't ready. It wasn't until a few days after that she decided to show us her new trick.

Anyway, one neat thing about celebrating Valentine's Day in my family, is that Jordan cooks me a nice romantic dinner...homemade pizza...and I get to choose the toppings. He started this tradition in college and has stuck by it ever since. So, on the day of Valentine's Day, Jordan treated Lilly and I to the sweetest dinner. We kept talking about how much fun it will be when Lilly is older and she can help her daddy cook the pizza with him. We exchanged gifts and just had the best time loving on our new family.
What a yummy V-Day dinner made especially for ME!

Lilly and I made this card for Jordan. She/we love him so much!

Jordan and I kinda went crazy for her 1st Valentine's Day.

I saw this on my computer when I turned it on. (FYI Jordan gives me, himself, and Lilly all worm names not to mention the other nicknames he's naming us everyday) Love my crazy man! The worm names all started when we were in high school He asked me to dance and I wouldn't so I just wiggled my finger and called that dancing. From then on I've been Lil' Worm. haha

L-O-V-E my Lilly

I think I'll see this look again in about 13 years. haha

10 Things I I LOVE about Lilly:

1.) She ALWAYS wakes up in the happiest moods.
2.) She holds my finger while she's nursing.
3.) She lights up in the biggest smile when her daddy walks in the room.
4.) She thinks it's funny when she sneezes. She smiles after every sneeze. haha
5.) She let's me put bows on her.
6.)She makes the sweetest sounds when she's sleeping.
7.)She talks to herself and plays with her hand until she falls asleep.
8.) She has the cutest toes.
9.) She's so expressive...just watch out for those eyebrows!
10.) She can be shy, so when she smiles at someone she'll put her hands over her mouth and duck her head in my arm.

....I could keep going, but I said 10 things not 1,000! haha

Fun and Flurries in February!

We are only in our 8th day of February, and already Lilly has had one eventful month! First, Lilly got to see her SECOND snow fall! At our house, we got at least 7 inches of snow! WHOA! Jordan and I couldn't wait to get our feet out in the snow for some good ol' fashion snow ball fights and snowman building! The first time it snowed, we were so excited to show Lilly what snow was that we spend the whole time playing with her and soaking up the moment with our daughter. This time, we wanted to be selfish and play in the snow. Word to the wise: first of all the word "selfish" goes out the window the moment you say those two words "I'm pregnant". Second, I think Lilly has a sixth scent and knows when mommy and daddy really want alone time because she is more fussy and refuses to take a nap when we want her to go to sleep. She refused to let us have our fun in the snow, so we bundled her up and took her outside with us. She was less excited about the snow the second time around, but we enjoyed our time with our little snow bunny!
Layering on the cloths to go outside and play in the snow.
All ready to play in the snow!

Lilly also celebrated her SECOND Superbowl party. Yes, I know she's only 4 months old, but it's true! The first time she was the size of a poppy seed! This time last year, we told Jordan's parents that we were having a baby! We were so excited to share the news with them and everyone else that was there that day! I still get teary eyed thinking about that special moment. Now, I'm not a big football fan, but I can say with total honesty that watching the Superbowl, no matter who's playing, brings me great joy because it reminds me of that special day when we announced the greatest blessing in our lives!

P.S. Green Bay won 31 to 25...just in case you were wondering. ;)

It's a family tradition to take a shot of Patron before any St.Clair party! Don't worry Lilly won't get her cute fingers on one of these till she's 21!!!
Lilly's beautiful aunt Erin making salsa for the party.

Sibling love.

We had these fun cups to write our names on. Mine said "Lilly's mommy plays well with others." BTW it was just coke!
Who needs to watch the Steelers and Green Bay with you have this cute girl to play with???

My boys! I love them so much!

We sure do know how to make one sweet baby!

I've started making baby leg warmers this month. I got the inspiration from a name brand baby leg warmer company that I absolutely love! I have a passion for crafting and I am so easily inspired to create new things...especially if I can make it for Lilly! I just love these leg warmers that I call Leg Huggers! If you are interested in a pair or some cute boutique bows, please check out my Etsy store at the bottom of my blog.  Here's Lilly modeling a few that I've made. :)

Lilly and I have been working soooo hard at rolling over. She hasn't accomplished this milestone yet, but I have a feeling she will soon. So, in the meantime we work on tummy time, rolling over time and sitting time. I try to make each activity as fun and exciting as possible so she doesn't feel like she's working an 8 hour shift. haha I have so much fun working playing with my daughter that I couldn't ask for a better job! She is learning and growing every day and I'm so fortunate that I get to see it all...front row seating! ;)
Sitting up like a big girl.

LOVE those lips!

Lilly fell asleep playing with mommy...so precious!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These past few days, Lilly has been extremely congested. I just feel so aweful for my little girl. Every time she breaths or babbles she makes rattling sounds. This is the first time Lilly has ever been this sick and it's a big deal around my house being first time parents. We have used all the medications and techniques we can use to ease her discomfort. I am constantly using her nasal aspirator and saline solution every time before I nurse and at least one time in between. Tonight, I made daddy take us to CVS to get Little Noses decongestant and MORE saline solution. We've also turned on the humidifier during her naps...which has worked wonders! We've even elevated her and her pack and play so she can rest and let the congestion go down. I hope she gets over this soon, because it sure is making her mommy and daddy worried sick over this....not that we don't stay that way 24/7 over our precious baby, but we sure are on pins and needles every time our little one coughs or wakes us up 6 times in the middle of the night!

Isn't this pathetic? I think she's soaking it all up though!

She just knows her mommy can make it all better!

Sleeping elevated. Sad sad sad.....
